I loved every moment of Abi and Alex’s classy urban city wedding! London is a very special place to both of them, with Alex’s grandparents marrying in the same church and having lived and worked there for many years. Alex’s Scottish background meant beautiful tartan accessories, a bagpiper outside the church and, of course, kilts for all the men.
Marrying in central London can make driving impossible, but Abi had booked a room at the Zetter Townhouse Hotel, a short stroll from the church, for the bridal preparations. After the finishing touches to getting ready, the bridal party made their way over the few streets to St James. Just think, that’s the way most people would have done things in times gone past, when lives were more local – just a short walk to the church! Later on, the couple put on a red bus to take all their guests to The Amadeus, a former Welsh Presbyterian chapel, now a wedding and events venue in Little Venice.
Abi and Alex’s shared passion for food and drink (in particular, Abi loves cheese and Alex loves whisky) meant that both featured heavily. They hosted a Carrot Cake Bake-Off instead of a traditional wedding cake and their band, the Timourous Beasties, were incredible and got everyone on their feet to ceilidh and dance the night away. A day never to forget!
